Carl “Bobo” Kilby

Carl “Bobo” Kilby entered the Kingdom of Heaven Monday night. We imagine the first thing he said to the Lord was “Where’s the Cracker Barrel?” He no longer wears his oxygen, for he breathes with new lungs, and he no longer uses his walker, for he walks with the one who holds us steady. He surely smiles down on Peggy with love in his heart and sings a new song for those of us he outran to the Lord.

He rejoices with those who received him in death: his father George, his mother Tempia, his sister Anette, and his brother Tootie. And he fondly recalls the memories he made with those of us still traveling thru this world: his brother Tom and his wife Sharon; his children: Anita and her husband Donnie, Teresa and her fiancé David, and Scott and his wife Paige; his many grandchildren: Nekesha and her husband Justin, Whitney, Courtney and her husband Aaron, Ethan and his wife Carlie, Jacqueline and her husband Peyton, Tori and her fiancé James, and Georgia; great grandchildren Kerrigan and Knox; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

Bobo was a self made man, running Triple K Coal Company with his brother Tom and eventually having his own trucking company. Ever the charismatic individual, he started work with the Cumberland County Road Department in 1986 and quickly ascended to a foreman position, continuing to make connections in the community until his retirement in 2010. When not working, he could be found mowing the yard, singing in the church choir, visiting Muddy Pond, or eating at the Cracker Barrel.

Carl touched the lives of so many with his kindness and generosity. He shared the many blessings he received from the Lord. The impact he had on our lives is lasting. Heaven surely gained one of the best men ever!

Funeral services for Carl will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 12:00 PM CST at New Life Baptist Church in Harriman, TN with Tommy Kilby and Keith Kilby officiating. He will be laid to rest in Kilby Cemetery in Oakdale, TN. Family will receive friends on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home.
