Flo Ella Long Blevins

Flo Ella Blevins was born November 25, 1929 in Hamblin County, Tennessee to Lawson Robert and Sarah Alice Evans Long. She was one of eight children: James, Horace, Trophine, Stella, Phyllis Ann and two born sleeping (deceased). Her mother passed when Flo Ella was two years old and she was raised by her father. Flo Ella married Herbert L. Blevins at age 21 on November 17, 1951. They were married for nearly 60 years when he passed on January 11, 2011. The happiest years of her life were spent with a family who loved her and Jesus Christ. During her time living in Crossville, she was a member (beginning in 1957) of Homestead Baptist Church. She loved teaching Sunday school class for teenage girls, and loved them all. She worked for Roselawn Southern and later, the Cumberland County School System. Flo Ella (affectionately known as “Nana”) was a blessed woman. She is rejoicing in Heaven with her husband and family members that preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children: Len Blevins (Sue) and Deloris Adams (Denton), grandson, Matthew Adams (Katie), and her great grandchildren, Madelyn and Eleanor Adams.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 19, 2021, at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home from 1 to 3 with service to follow. Delane Sidwell will officiate and burial will be in Green Acres Memory Gardens.

Kathleen Marie Gilley

Kathleen Marie Gilley, age 71, was born to Clark and Laura Wilder Gilley on October 3, 1949 in East Moline, Illinois and passed away in Crossville, Tennessee on July 14, 2021. She was a homemaker supporting her husband in his endeavors and enjoyed raising her family.

She is survived by her partner of 30 years, Calvin Miller; daughters, Dawnna Crouch Gillespie (Shaw) and Beth Crouch Boles; grandchildren, Kathleen Miller (Randy), Christopher Capps (Sarah), Dennis Gillespie, Kaysie Capps, Francis McKinney, Laura Capps, and Mikey Boles; and eight great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Jennifer Crouch Woody.

Memorial services for Kathleen will be held at a later date.

Wesley Hiram Rose

Wesley Hiram Rose, age 4, was born on April 13, 2017 to Wayne and Devon Wyatt Rose in Crossville, Tennessee. He passed away on July 11, 2021 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Wesley was one of a kind. Instead of riding his bike, Wesley always pushed it, convinced he was faster at pushing than riding. He loved his trucks and most definitely his (hookers). There was never a dull moment with Wesley around, he was all boy, and he was most definitely a daddy’s boy. His favorite thing was daddy’s truck, and he would always talk about his daddy’s truck he’d have one day. He would always talk about how he was going to mess you up. Blue was his favorite color, and Wesley could brighten a room with just one smile. His laugh was just the best thing to hear. Wesley always wanted to be outside no matter the weather. He always had to have his brother, Joey, outside or watching his favorite show with him. Wesley and his sissy really enjoyed eating their snacks together.

He is survived by his parents, Wayne and Devon Wyatt Rose; his brother, Joey Rose; and his sister, Magnolya Rose.

Funeral services for Wesley will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 7 p.m. at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Ralph Reagan will be officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 5 to 7.

Mellisa Keyes

Mellisa Keyes, age 49, was born on August 2, 1971 to Kenneth and Mona Petree Keyes in Crossville, Tennessee. She passed away on July 12, 2021 in Knoxville, Tennessee.

She is survived by her parents; children, Jamie (Michael) Seymour and Jimmie Whittaker; grandchildren, Camille, Braxston, Tristan, Braelynn, and Rylin; and siblings, Belinda Autt, Shanda Cornett, and Jackie Brown.

She is preceded in death by her grandson, Hayden.

Family will receive friends on Friday, July 16, 2021 from 12 to 2 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will also be held on Friday following visitation with Bro. Danny Wyatt officiating. She will be laid to rest in Haley’s Grove Cemetery.

Bailey Rae Heuser

November 15, 1994 – June 17, 2021

A beautiful, beloved daughter, fiancé, granddaughter, sister, cousin, and mother left this world unexpectedly, preceded by her daughter, Freya Maxine Thompson, at age 26, on June 17, 2021. Born in Cookeville, Tennessee to Rick and Brigid Heuser, Bailey grew up and lived with her fiancé, Kaelan Thompson, in Crossville, Tennessee. She graduated in 2013 from Stone Memorial High School where she participated in the marching band and was a skilled clarinet player.

Bailey, “Boo”, was a talented artist who loved music, gardening, crocheting, and numerous other crafts. She was a vintage hippie who was gentle, kind, and courageous. Bailey had a heart of gold and always saw the good in people, but she wasn’t afraid to be who she wanted and defended her ground when needed. She was fiercely loyal and loved helping others. We will always remember her caring heart, one-of-a-kind sense of humor, and her beautiful smile. Her presence in our our lives will be sorely missed.

When you think of Bailey, celebrate the memories you have of her. Remember, life is fragile. Embrace the days you have with kindness, understanding, and love – just like Boo.

She is survived by her parents- Rick and Brigid Heuser; sister- Robin Swearengen (Matt); nieces and nephews- Jaxon, Kolby, and Ella Swearengen; and grandparents, Cordell and Ellouise Hensley, Anne and Eric Turbett, and Bud and Yolanda Heuser.

A celebration of life for Bailey will be held on July 24, 2021 from 1:00 to 4:00 at Oaklawn Farms with Angie Jones officiating.

Lou Ann Walker

Lou Ann Walker, age 90, passed away on July 11 in Crossville, Tennessee.  She was born on December 10, 1930, in Crossville, Tennessee to the late James Harrison and Ethel Elizabeth Tabor Shillings.

She is survived by her children: Donna Robertson (Harry) of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Roger Parham of Katy, Texas, Gary Parham (Patricia) of San Antonio, Texas; bonus children: Richard Walker (Vicky), Kenneth Walker (Carla), Donna Bristow, grandchildren Alexandra Fitzgerald of Breckenridge, Colorado, and Jordan Parham, of Kettering, Ohio, and 2 great grandchildren.

She was a devout Christian and attended Bethlehem Baptist Church.  She retired from General Motors in Dayton, Ohio in 1986 and made her home in Crossville.  She loved gardening at the ranch.  She also enjoyed hunting for antiques…a love she passed down to her daughter and granddaughter, Alex.

She enjoyed cooking and was well known for her chicken and dumplings. Lou Ann also enjoyed watching Tennessee Vols sports.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Don Walker, brothers James, David and Billy Shillings, sister Martha Sue Wyatt.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, 2653 N. Main Street, Crossville, Tennessee 38555.  Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm, with interment to follow immediately at Green Acres Memory Gardens.

John Clifford Shelby

John Clifford Shelby, age 38, was born on April 7, 1983 to Clifford and Donna Shelby in Myrtle Beach, SC. He passed away on June 19, 2021 in Crossville, TN.

He is survived by his wife, Carmen Duenas Shelby; son, Kain Evin Shelby; parents, Clifford and Donna Shelby; brother, Michael Shelby; grandmother, Carole Diamond; uncles and aunts along with cousins living in England; three nieces along with aunts and uncles from Athens, TN to California; and numerous friends across the US.

Services for John will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 in Spring City Cemetery (590 Cemetery Road Spring City, TN) at 12:00 p.m. CST/1:00 p.m. EST. Services will be conducted by his family and friends.

Catherine Louise Garner

Catherine Louise Garner, age 86, was born on April, 4, 1935 in Robbinston, Maine and passed away on July 3, 2021 in Crossville, TN.

She is survived by her sons, Brian and Duane Garner; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Bessie Carson; and husband, Charles W. Garner, Sr.

Family will receive friends on Friday, July 9, 2021 from 12 to 2 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services for Catherine will also be held on Friday following visitation with Pastor Mike Kerley officiating. She will be laid to rest in Crossville City Cemetery.

Nathan Clyde Howard

Nathan Clyde Howard, age 82, was born on May 27, 1939 to Clyde and Ina Ellis Howard in Crab Orchard, TN. He passed away peacefully on June 24, 2021 at his son and daughter-in-law’s home in Crossville, TN. Nathan was a stone mason for many years. He installed stone, as well as granite and marble for mausoleums all over the USA. He served his country in the army from 1957 to 1963 and was active during the Cuban Missile Crisis. No matter where Nathan went, his home was always in Crossville. He loved playing pool and watching boxing. Nathan will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his sons, Eric (Cinella) Howard, Perry Howard, and Michael Howard; grandchildren, Chris Howard, Tyler Howard, Dustin Howard, Dillon Howard, Natosha Howard, and Thomas Howard; three great grandchildren; and sister, Joy Rose.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sue Howard; son, David Howard; sister, Betty Kington and her husband, Paul; and brother-in-law, Boyd Rose.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 12 to 2 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Memorial services for Nathan will also be held on Thursday following visitation with Bro. Greg Williams officiating.

John Stephen Pritchett

John Stephen Pritchett was born on November 2, 1953 in Pembroke, Bermuda passed away on June 23, 2021.

John grew up in Bermuda with his older sisters, Anna Louise Abell and Janet Thelma Phillips, by his maternal aunt, Joy Louise Doughty and maternal grandparents, William and Maria Doughty. He attended Bermuda Institute and was a fireman with the Hamilton Bermuda Fire Brigade. In his 20s, he moved to Virginia Beach, VA and lived with his father, Elmer Carson Pritchett, and sisters, Barbara Lee Viohl and family. His other sister, Rose Marie Payne and her family lived nearby. Later, he lived on a sailboat in Virginia Beach for many years and worked installing security systems. In 2010, he moved to his house in Crossville, TN. He was active in Bethlehem Baptist Church for a few years, and he was a member of the Cumberland Plateau Amateur Radio Club. He loved Tennessee and the friends he made there.

He was preceded in death by his Aunty Joy, his parents, grandparents, and a half-brother, Edward Calloway. He is survived by his four sisters, his brother-in-law, Robert David Abell, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Next year, when his older sister, Anna, visits Bermuda with her family, they will spread his ashes in the ocean.

His memorial service will be Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 6 PM at Crossville Memorial with visitation from 4-6 PM.
