Paul Lyman Allen

Paul Allen left this world to go irritate his parents and his brother on October 14, 2021. Born on April 19, 1947 to Marie and Dwight Allen in Bath, Maine. He had one brother, Kenneth. He had many lifelong friends, some which have passed, and I just know that he is having lots of fun pulling his shenanigans with David Marriman. Another lifelong friend was Ronnie Ponziani AKA Ponzi. They were crib mates, just ask Ponzi, I know he will tell you the story. He joined the United States Navy in June 1966 and did 3 tours in Vietnam. He was aboard the USS Pivot from 1967-1969 then was on the USS Acme from 1969-1970. He was honorably discharged in 1972 as a Radarman Petty Officer Third Class and never ate or allowed tunafish in his house ever again. After being discharged, him and another lifelong friend, Sam Alexander, started Alexander & Allen, Inc in 1972. He said many times that him and Sam were the ‘varsity team’ and when they had helpers, such as Chuck Alexander, they were called the ‘junior varsity team’. Paul was a fire fighter for the Harpswell Neck Fire Department and was Assistant Chief for well over 20 years. Then comes his biggest year yet, 1983. He marries Linda D. McPherson on June 26, 1983. They met through his brothers wife, Judy, who worked with Linda in a nursing home. Then he found out she had 3 kids and still said ‘I Do’. He even had to make the house bigger to fit us, but he did it with his friend and business partner, Sam, and of course all his other friends. He finally finished the house shortly before retiring to Tennessee in 2010.

His father, Dwight Allen, passed away in 2003, and his mother, Marie Allen, passed away in 2008. His brother, Ken Allen, passed away June 15, 2021. He also had a great granddaughter, Abrielle Marie, who passed away on February 25, 2010.

Now we get to tell you about the ones still living. He had 2 daughters…wait, I mean 3 daughters. Lisa Card of Lisbon Falls, Maine. Brenda and her pain in the ass husband, Brian Maciejewski, of Crossville, Tennessee. Jennifer McPherson of Topsham, Maine. He had 11 grandchildren. Courtney and her pain in the ass husband, Mark Hersey, Megan and Alexandra Russell, Jessica and Sara Maciejewski, Brian Maciejewski Jr, Ricky Dixon Jr, Chris Dixon, Katie Dixon, Jacob and Hannah Card. He also had 12 great grandchildren. Abrielle, Steven, Paul, Luke, Osias, Ella, Cade, Maddie, Kylee, CJ, Ben, and one on the way, Adeline. Yes, a couple of us were very busy. He has nieces and nephews, too many to count, including Anne, Robbie, Chris, and Liz Allen and great niece Dannielle. I also want to mention Becky and Sam Riley of Pennsylvania, but please don’t ask Sam about his tootsie roll. Trust me on this. But Sam does make a mean pig roast.

Paul was a prankster and loved to mess with people. He would grab my foot as I was going up the spiral stairs at night. I still can’t go up a flight of stairs at night or sleep with my feet exposed. He would tell the grandkids that there were spider cats in the attic. He had a scream mask that he loved to get people with. He also has a rooster collection which he referred to as his cocks. He enjoyed digging holes with his tractor and driving his wife crazy. He was a good man who will be missed by many.

If you feel the need to spend money in his memory, please send it to Harpswell Neck Fire Department, P.O. Box 8, Harpswell, Maine 04079.
