Robert Lee Petty

November 25, 1934 – May 20, 2024

Robert Lee Petty, 89, of [Crossville], passed away peacefully on May 20, 2024. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Edith Petty; his sister Anne Kessler; his children, Michael Lee Petty (Vanessa), Dana Britton (Roy), and Rhonda Winnett (Steven); and his grandchildren, Robbie Templeton, Casey Templeton, Kaitlyn Case-Bruning, Skyler Chrisman, Carley Chrisman, Wyatt Petty, and Logan Petty; and five great-grandchildren.

Robert served as a medic in the United States Air Force and was a longtime member and deacon of Lantana Road Baptist Church. His love for Jesus and pride in his family were evident to all who knew him. Robert left a permanent impression on everyone he met with his kindness, faith, and service.

The family will receive friends on June 22nd at 10 am at Lantana Road Baptist Church, and the Celebration of Life will follow at 11 am.

Robert will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

Richard Stanley Dickenson

Richard Dickenson, age 50, was born on November 7, 1973 to Elmer and Theresia Dickenson in Crossville, TN. He passed away on June 7, 2024 at Vanderbilt.

Richard is survived by his mother Theresia (Miller) Dickenson; his wife Amanda (Takes) Dickenson; children Nara Dickenson and Natalie Dickenson; his beloved cat Salem; and his siblings Melissa Foster, Mike Dickenson, and Breanna Riggs.

He was preceded in death by his father Elmer Dickenson Jr.

Services will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10am to 12pm, with the service to follow at 12pm. He will be laid to rest in Pomona Cemetery immediately following the service.

Patricia Ann Foulkes

November 23, 1961 – June 5, 2024

Patricia “Patti” Ann Foulkes passed away on June 5, 2024. It was a sudden and unexpected loss.

Born in New York City on November 23, 1962, the daughter of Arthur and Ann (nee Cottingham) Foulkes, and the third of seven children. Patti grew up in Plainview, Long Island, and attended Our Lady of Mercy Academy. She graduated from SUNY Oneonta in 1984 with a degree in Early Childhood Education and devoted her life to caring for children both as a teacher and a childcare provider. Patti lived in Florida before settling in her adopted hometown of Crossville, Tennessee.

Patti is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her siblings Matthew, Michael (Elizabeth), William (Helena), Mary Ellen, James (Lisa), and Thomas (Sara), many nieces and nephews, aunts, and uncles. 

Patti had a one-of-a-kind personality and took over every room she entered. Her sense of humor and infectious laugh kept everyone on their toes. She leaves behind not only her own family, but so many friends who considered her their favorite sister, aunt, or mom! Patti will be so incredibly missed.  

It was Patti’s wish to be cremated without a service. We are respecting her wishes. Please keep her in your prayers. May she rest in peace. 

Louis Richard Hanes Sr

Louis Hanes, age 90, was born on October 17, 1933 to Frank and Ethel Hanes in Blanchester, OH and passed away on June 5, 2024 at his home in Crossville, TN.

Louis loved Nascar, even more so, racing cars himself, and he had a passion for restoring old cars and tractors.

He is survived by his children Louis R. Hanes Jr, Kimberlee (Kenneth) Gagnon, Stephanie Hanes, and Desiree (Joseph) Cimino; grandchildren Zachary Hendershot, Taylor (Melissa) Hendershot, Jordan Cimino, and Joshua Cimino, all of Fort Pierce, FL, Briana (Anthony) Guidace of Port St. Lucie, FL, Robert Blankenship and Kay Lynn Hensley, both of Crossville, TN; and sister Rita Smith.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Ethel (Jordan) Hanes; wife Sheila Hanes; and brother Mack Hanes.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 11am, with the service to follow at 12p, Pastor Danny Smith officiating. He will be laid to rest in Martha Washington Cemetery (Clarkrange, TN) immediately following the service.

Lawrence “Larry” R. Davis

April 16, 1944 – June 3, 2024

Larry Davis, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with family and friends. He never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He loved to talk and joke around with everyone. He was a member of the Lantana Baptist Church. He graduated from CCHS where he played high school football. After high school he went to work for General Motors in Michigan and retired from the company and then returned to Crossville and went to work for the State Highway Department, which he also retired from.

He was preceded in death by his parents Theador “Ted” Davis and Martha Louise (Leach) Davis; brothers Kenneth Davis, Joby Davis, and Carl Davis; and sisters Kathleen Powers, Gladys Wyatt, Jerleen Hyder, and Glenna Tabor.

Larry is survived by his wife Angela “Angie” Davis; son Darrell Davis and his wife Angela “Angie” Davis; brother Edward Davis; sisters Joyce Davis and Janet Johnson; grandchildren Ashley Davis, Caley Davis, Justin & Morgan McDonald, and Miranda & Justin Sherrill; great grandchildren Enzo Davis, Cohen Langlay, Madison Sherrill, Bryson Sherrill, and Carver McDonald; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his best friend Dave Kirk. He was truly loved and will be missed by many.

The Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home from 5-8pm.

Wade Newton Davis

Wade Newton Davis, age 57, was born in Crossville, TN to Steven Newton and Judy Kay Singleton Davis on April 26,1967 and passed away on May 27, 2024. He was a stone mason and on his downtime, enjoyed playing video games with Fortnight being his favorite. He was a family man that loved dancing with his grandchildren. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, boating and gardening.

Wade is survived by his wife- Karen Leach Davis, children- Jacob Davis (Nikki), Aaron Davis (Jessica), Jonah Edmonds, Jacob Edmonds, Hannah Lemons, Brigette Perry (David), and Trey Edmonds (Kristine), grandchildren- Marilyn Judkins, Audrey Lemons, Declan Davis, Hudson Davis, Luna Davis, Noah Perry, Lillie Perry, Malachi Perry, Hollie Perry, Mallory Perry, and Harper Edmonds, brother- Heath Davis (Nora), and a large loving family including Little Man.

He is preceding in death by his parents, brothers- Steven Davis and Jimmy Ray Nelson and daughter- Lindsay Timpton.

There will be a memorial service on June 22, 2024 at Oaklawn Baptist Church at 1:00.

Barbara Lee Blackmon

Barbara Blackmon, age 87, was born on October 12, 1936 to Elbert and Lorina Garrett in Byrdstown, TN and passed away on May 30, 2024 in Fairhope, AL.

Barbara was a very colorful and happy person. She was feisty and enjoyed life. She loved her family and enjoyed sharing stories with them. She loved the Lord and in the last few weeks she talked about Him wanting to make sure her family of 7 kids were going to Heaven. She loved to spread the Gospel and express her love for the Lord.

Barbara is survived by her children-Mitchell Glover, Marcia Conrad (Ken), Keith Glover (Paulette), Gregory Blaylock (Jennifer), Kathi McCammon (Robert), and Larry Blackmon; and brother- Howard Garrett (Bertha).

She was preceded in death by her parents Elbert Denton Garrett and Lorina Mae (Neal) Garrett; husband- Robert Blackmon, daughter- Beverly Gann, and brothers James Holis Garrett and Hoy Denton Garrett.

Services will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11a-1p, with the service to follow at 1pm, Craig Ward officiating. She will be laid to rest in Neal Cemetery in Byrdstown, TN immediately following the service.

Howard Lane Patton

Howard Lane Patton, age 66, was born on April 4, 1958 to Willie Herbert and Cecile Patrick Patton in Crossville, TN and passed away there on May 30, 2024. He is survived by his siblings- Linda Futrell, Ava Patton, Rita Walker, Alan Patton and Harvey Patton. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dale Patton. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 3, 2024 from 4 to 6 with a service to follow at 6:00. Mitchel Covington will be officiating.

Irene Christine Shelton

Irene Shelton, age 77, was born on October 7, 1946 to Benton and Viola Seals in Pikeville, TN and passed away on May 30, 2024 in Crossville, TN.

Irene and her husband, Thelbert, owned Shelton Used Cars for over 40 years. She loved quilting, crocheting, and working puzzles, but especially enjoyed spending time with her great grandbabies.

She is survived by her children Faye (Raymond) Smith and Vicky (Darwin) Scarlett; grandchildren Eric Scarlett and Casey (Bradley) Sherrill; great grandchildren Kyler Watson Sherrill and Scarlett Tate; sister Geneva (Allen) Russell; nephew Lynn Russell, and his children Lauren and Landon Russell.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents Loyd Benton and Allie Viola (Miller) Seals; husband Thelbert Shelton; son Wayne “Buddy” Shelton; and siblings Millard Ray Seals and Della Lou Seals.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11am to 2pm, with the service to follow at 2pm, officiated by David Ray and Doyle Ashburn. She will be laid to rest in Crossville City Cemetery immediately following the service.

Pallbearers include: Eric Scarlett, Lynn Russell, Landon Russell, Cody Wright, Dale Crockett, and Adam Crockett. Honorary Pallbearers are: Allen Russell, David Ray, and Johnny Pleasant.

Janice Marie Gillespie

12/24/1946 Oak Park, IL – 05/25/2024 Fairfield Glade, TN

Janice Marie Rosback was born in Oak Park, IL and was the first child of Donald & Geneva Rosback (both deceased). She has a sister Jean (deceased) and a brother Thomas (Salida, CO).

Janice was married to her college sweetheart (Alan Gillespie) and together they have 2 sons – Scot Gillespie (Kodak, TN) and David Gillespie (Glenview, ll) and their adopted fur-friend Phineas. Together she & Alan enjoyed over 57 years of loving and joyful times together.

She loved her health care profession and had a successful career as a Registered Nurse specializing in Emergency care & Trauma. She retired in 2017 as the program manager of the Trauma program at Loyola University Medical Center in Illinois.

Her interests included her family – her sons, her grandchildren (Christopher, Elizabeth, and Jessen) and her great granddaughter (Adaline). She had a strong Christian faith and was very active in her church. Another interest was American history being a long time member of a national President Lincoln education group and was a founding member and officer of the Cumberland Mountain Civil War Round Table organization.

Janice will be sorely missed by her family and many friends and was surly welcomed at her arrival in Heaven.
